So when did salt become a luxury good again anyways?

So I understand that back in the days long gone by salt was worth it's weight in gold and that it was a rare commodity, but what is the deal with getting one package of salt when driving through your nearest favorite fast food place for your fries, is it for healthreasons? moneysavings? or is it just a case of themcrazyamericans at work?

....and with that back to your regular schedule programming.

Well I am led to believe that the salt reserves in Michigan must be bigger than they are in Minnesota, cause here you can consider yourself lucky when they put 1 corn of salt on. Either that or people are more health concious and they put less salt (pronounce: no salt) on. So -- no salt to start with -- large fries -- 1 package of salt. Or maybe they looked at me and said "dang that guy looks like he has high blood pressure I do him some good, 1 package of salt -- thats it !".
